COOKS AND CHEFS by Michael A Berriman

COOKS  AND  CHEFS

by  Michael  A  Berriman

What is the difference between a Chef and a Cook
Not a difficult answer and not far to look
Chefs fiddle with displays and Cooks serve on a plate
So how does this taste and how does it rate?

A Chef will remark, display is part of his skill
And a Cook will just cook and present for a bill
A sauce for a Chef is culinary Sa voir Faire
The Cook serves his gravy with the utmost same care.

Fine dining is fiddling with food to present
And Cooks find this annoying and sometimes resent
So what is the difference, and what do we need
A plate full of symmetry or a jolly good feed.

So forget the wow ambience and forget the nice mood
You can't eat ambience and you do eat good food
Your serving may be artistic if it fits on a spoon
Savor it slowly, you may have hunger pains soon.

Italy is renown for good food and good looks
The best home food is made by the Cooks
Their rustic presentation may be second best
But the taste, the great taste...now this is the test!
